You look capable on the outside, but on the inside you are falling apart. Maybe you are afraid to ask for help, because everyone seems to be handling everything better than you. What does it even mean to admit that maybe you just can’t handle everything that life is handing you. Does that make you a failure? You wake up go through the motions, do whatever you can to get through the day then you go to bed a do it all over again. You wonder “Is this all there is to life?”
The answer is no.
There is so much more to life.
That is what we can discover together.

You hold so much—for your family, your work, your world. Here, therapy is a space to set it all down. To Soften, breathe, and come back to yourself.
Real conversations. Honest exploration. Meaningful change. And yes, we'll probably laugh.
I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up exactly as you are. You don't need to have the right words, know what's wrong, or arrive with a perfectly organized list of things you'd like to work on. You can come in overwhelmed, frustrated, exhausted, confused, or just feeling like something in your life isn't quite right. We'll figure out where to begin together.
1. We're going to have real conversations.
I'm a therapist, but I'm also a human being. You won't find me sitting silently across from you, nodding thoughtfully while you wonder what on earth I'm thinking. I'll ask questions. I'll share observations. I'll get curious with you. And sometimes, we'll laugh at just how ridiculous being human can be. I take your experiences seriously, but that doesn't mean every conversation has to feel heavy.
2. I don't believe therapy should last forever.
My goal isn't for you to need me indefinitely. It's to help you build a life that feels more like your own. That doesn't mean we'll rush through difficult things or put a timeline on healing. It means our work will have intention. I want you to experience meaningful change outside our sessions, not just feel better for an hour every week.
3. Understanding yourself is important. But it's not the whole picture.
You might already know exactly why you do what you do. You know why you people-please, why you overthink, why you shut down, or why you keep finding yourself in the same situations. And yet, you keep doing it.nFrustrating, isn't it? Insight can be incredibly valuable, but knowing why something happens doesn't always change what happens next. We'll explore the patterns you've developed, understand what they've been doing for you, and create opportunities to experience something different. Because change isn't just something we understand. It's something we experience.
4. I believe there's room for humor in healing.
Some of the things we experience are genuinely painful. Others are frustrating, confusing, and occasionally absurd. Sometimes we'll sit with the hard stuff. Sometimes we'll laugh until we can't remember what we were talking about. Both belong. You don't have to be serious every minute for the work we're doing to matter.
5. We're working together.
I bring my training, clinical experience, and curiosity. You bring something equally important: your lived experience. I'm not here to tell you who you are, what you should want, or how your life is supposed to look. I'm here to help you discover what makes sense for you. And if something I say doesn't resonate? Tell me. I welcome that. Some of our most meaningful conversations may begin right there.
6. I'll be compassionate, but I'll also be honest.
Sometimes I'll notice a pattern you haven't recognized yet. Sometimes I'll ask a question that makes you stop and think. Not because I believe you're doing something wrong, but because the things we do often make sense when we understand how we learned to do them. Even the ones that are no longer helping us. We'll approach those patterns with curiosity rather than criticism. And sometimes, telling ourselves the truth about ourselves is where something begins to shift.
7. Your body is part of the conversation, too.
Our experiences don't just live in our thoughts. They can show up in the way we breathe, move, hold tension, react, or feel in certain situations. Sometimes talking is helpful. Sometimes we need to slow down and notice what's happening beyond the words. And sometimes, we need to get up and move. That's one reason I love offering walk-and-talk and nature-based sessions alongside traditional therapy. There's no single right way to do this work.
8. You don't have to have it all together.
You can be successful and still feel lost. You can love your family and still feel overwhelmed by them. You can understand your patterns and still struggle to change them. You can be grateful for your life and still want something different. You're allowed to be a complicated human being here. No performance necessary.
9. We're not chasing perfection.
We're making room for a life that feels more honest, connected, and aligned with who you are. There will be progress. There may be setbacks. There will probably be moments when you wonder whether anything is changing at all. That's part of being human, too. We're not looking for a perfect version of you. We're making room for more of the real you.
A Final Thought
I don't believe you're a problem that needs to be fixed. I believe your experiences, reactions, and patterns have a story. And often, those patterns developed for very understandable reasons. But just because something once helped you survive doesn't mean it has to determine how you live today. My hope is that our work helps you move beyond simply understanding yourself and toward actually experiencing your life differently. With honesty, compassion, curiosity, and probably a little laughter along the way.
Come as you are. We'll start there.

Why I Do Not Accept Insurance
Ember & Oak Counseling Operates outside of insurance networks to preserve the integrity and privacy of the therapeutic process. Working independently means your healing isn’t limited by time caps, diagnosis codes, or the demands of third-party systems. I don’t believe meaningful therapy should begin with labeling your pain as a disorder. By choosing to work privately, we create space for authentic, whole-person healing— rooted in trust, confidentiality, and the natural pace of your nervous system.
